[It's a late night and Shiraishi can't sleep. Really, he's tried all the ways he can think of... but his mind is going back to think about things he's learned at the place. About, well, his 'future self' being here... and him being friends with all sort of people. He had told himself not to think about it since it just gave him a headache and it really had nothing to do with him being there right now. Yet here he was thinking... well over-thinking about it.

He was slightly curious about what kind of a person he was in the future, but he knew it was better if he didn't ask. He was also curious about what sort of people he knew. That wouldn't be too bad of a question. Perhaps he'd be able to befriend them as well if he wasn't too different in their opinion.

... really, he was over-thinking. He couldn't change that much in such little time.

Well, he can't sleep so he might as well ask about some things, right? He isn't in the mood for making videos or audio posts so he'll send out a text for now.]

I know this might sound silly, but... how many of you knew me, well the slightly older version of me, when he was around? Shiraishi Kuranosuke that is. I'm not trying to find out what I'll turn out to be in the future or anything, but I'm just... curious about what kind of people I know he knew.

[He hesitate a while before adding.]

Though if I was a bad person for some reason, please tell me that. There's a chance I can redeem myself and change, after all. It wouldn't be a bad change in the future in my opinion, I think.

[There might have been something else... oh.]

Oh and one more question... Do breeders collect badges too or is that just a trainer thing?

I started to, but I didn't get far before I was snatched from Johto the first time. I'll be collecting them this time around, though.

I didn't the first time I came back. I wasn't here long enough during my second trip to get any badges either, which was kind of disappointing.

Ah. Well, this place seems really random with everything related to coming here and leaving, at least from what I've heard. [And experienced.] I wonder if it's wrong to say "Hopefully you'll get enough time this time around"?

It's not wrong. Time is frozen until I'm sent back, so I can focus on Johto without having to be too concerned. It's not so bad being here.

It does? That would mean no one knows we're gone... at home?

[That's a relief.]

And I won't miss any tournaments either.

Yeah, it does. It's pretty convenient, I guess. It means less to worry about, at the very least.

[ Like extreme ecoterrorists launching terrorist attacks against Shin-Ra with no concern as to whether civilians wind up in the crossfire, her coworkers getting into trouble, the company taking issue with her absence and the possible recoil there... but wait. Did he just say -- ]

Tournaments?

Mmh, I can relax more and enjoy my time here, even if I'll feel a bit homesick for a while. So thank you for the info. We're in the middle of a tennis tournament. It would be rather bad if the captain went missing in the middle of it.

Tennis is a sport where you play with rackets and balls. You hit the ball across the net and try to get it past the player you're against. The person who gets more points eventually wins.

It sounds pretty simple. Perhaps you could show me sometime?

I wouldn't mind. I just... need to get the equipments for it.

You might be able to find it in Goldenrod, if you look. The department store has just about everything. It might even be in the catalog, now that I think about it.

Hmm... I think I can wait until Goldenrod. It's best to buy the racket in person rather than from a catalog.

I can't say I blame you. I've never been fond of ordering personal equipment from catalogs myself.

Yeah. It's hard to tell the quality from pictures alone... and that's really important if you want to use them for a long time.

Exactly. It just isn't practical to by those sorts of things from a catalog. It sounds to me like someone really knows his stuff.

Haha. Well, I'm known to be the player who knows the basics of basics. I was nicknamed the "Bible of Tennis"... or "Handbook".

That's pretty impressive! I guess I'm lucky to be hearing about it from you then, huh?

I guess you can say that, yeah. There's a lot more than basics to tennis, of course, but they're the most important thing and you need to know them to find your own style, for example.

Your own style... so, what's yours, if you don't mind my asking? Or is that something more easily shown than explained?

I don't mind... but my style came up already. I play the "perfect" handbook tennis and do everything by the book.

That sounds pretty impressive. I can't wait to see it for myself.
